More people in the world’s spotlight are putting the management of their mental health ahead of any societal pressure. One of the latest to do so is U.S. gymnast Simone Biles, who, during one of the biggest moments in her career, chose her mental well-being over additional athletic fame. She modified her participation in the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan, which were postponed until this year due to the pandemic. She joins the likes of American Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, English royal Prince Harry and Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka, who all have publicly brought attention to mental health issues.
